This morning I asked you not to go, I asked you not to leave. I wanted to beg, I wanted to plead. But they need soldiers like you and me. Heavier than the armour that I carry is the reality, with the event of moonlight, the evening won't bring you back to me.
Had to bury my family 3 weeks ago, when a stray Stuka dive-bombed our family home.
As they advance closer, as their victory looms, I wonder to myself will our defeat be coming soon.
For genetics they’ll bomb my country into the ground.
So for every step they take in my land, I'll push them back with gun and hand. As the buildings crumble, all signs of hope are gone. I won’t fight for a man’s named city, but the city that is my home.
Had to bury my family 3 weeks ago, when a stray Stuka dive-bombed our family home.
As they advance closer, as their victory looms, I wonder to myself will our defeat be coming soon.
In better days we lived so quietly,
now I’ll bleed in fields and basements, in the defence of family.
This morning I asked you not to go, I asked you not to leave. I wanted to beg, I wanted to plead. But they need soldiers like you and me.
Heavier than the armour that I carry is the reality, with the event of moonlight, the evening won't bring you back to me.

Hometown Ghosts
02:12
|

Cross cities, cross countries,
to tell you, we never measured up.
To any of it, and this is it so.
You can't stay sorry for what you're not.
Shut my eyes and smarten up. I'll take myself to your hometown, but you won't be there. In retrospect, you never were, so shut my eyes.
Last chance.
I'm backing out so, and these intentions were,
mediocre at best.
You can't stay sorry for what you're not.
Shut my eyes and smarten up. I'll take myself to your hometown, but you won't be there. In retrospect, you never were, so shut my eyes.
Lighten up the past, your ghost will play the role tonight.
You can't stay sorry for what you're not. In retrospect, you never were, so shut my eyes.

No Hope

No hope. These cuts. No sign of relief.
This is where we end up in the broke economy.
No hope. These cuts. No sign of relief.
Violent police are heroes in this broke country.
No hope. These cuts. No sign of relief.
This is where we end up in the wake of apathy.
Eat what The Sun feeds you, trust everything you read,
but what when it's YOUR job next, will you finally see?
No hope. These cuts. No sign of relief.
When they kill your healthcare, and your kids can't pay the fees.
Your benefits get taken, disabled left to die.
Clothing youth centres, VAT bleeds you dry.
No hope. These cuts. No sign of relief.
No hope. These cuts. No sign of relief.
This is where we end up in the death of our country.
No hope.

Battleships

Despite what you say, despite what you think. You are not your failures, so I won't let you sink. We all had our downtime, but you just need a break. So there's no reason to give in.
With so much at stake, you can't let, your battered ship, beach and break. To ill repair.
We'll sail on.
Through fire,
war, and beyond.
You think it's hopeless. We'll patch up the holes, and bail out the water. Remind you who you are. Still undefeated. Still afloat though scarred. So there's no reason to give in.
With so much at stake, you can't let, your battered ship, beach and break. To ill repair.
We'll sail on.
Through fire,
war, and beyond.
This is the last time you submit to bad ideas. Dawn breaks with broken bones, and you aren't all your mistakes.
We'll sail on.
Through fire,
war, and beyond.

On Your Way Home
02:59
|
|||
On the way home you’ll just tighten up your gut,
and wipe that smirk right off your face and straighten up your guard.
The reality it doesn't really matter to care. Your saviour’s in that same brown bag. Your saviour’s that last smoke you had.
‘Cause there’s no amount of pills or drink, you can take. It’ll only dull your memory few hours in the day.
And on your way home, were you thinking about an excuse you won't even have to spin? I’ve lost track of everything.
You can have our own way, whatever works for you.
If you cared enough, there’s still dried dirt on all of your clothes. Even if the sun's starting to rise, I'll still be waiting up for that kid, that got replaced with all of this.
‘Cause there’s no amount of pills or drink, you can take. It’ll only dull your memory few hours in the day.
And on your way home, were you thinking about an excuse you won't even have to spin? I’ve lost track of everything.
Just to have you back, home from the frontline, but the trench never lets you be. How long ‘til you’re back to me?
And on your way home, are you thinking about an excuse you won't even have to spin? I’ve lost track of everything.

Everything, not everything will fall apart.
Oh bad luck, you have set up home inside my palms again. But my head is not a bed for you to rest, your bad conscience on.
No one knows that I don’t care. And no one knows about you anymore.
Close off your ears, if you can’t bare to hear. You were the scar I couldn’t help, but pick or let heal, pretending to feel. But only for a while.
No one knows that I don’t care. And no one knows about you anymore.
Whilst you were sleeping, I was leaving you.
Everything, not everything will fall apart
